Honest joinery
Frames are made of kiln-dried hardwood and assembled with mortise-and-tenon joinery, glued and pinned. We do not use staples in structural members. We do not use particleboard. We do not hide cost-cuts behind upholstery.
Home / About
Xenoblox Bespoke began in 2014 as a two-person upholstery shop in Subang Jaya. Today eighteen craftspeople work under one roof, building furniture for homes and the hospitality trade across Malaysia.
Our beginning
Our founder, Adrian Teh, spent a decade upholstering for one of Klang Valley's largest contract furniture houses before deciding to start something of his own. The first commission — a tired old chesterfield for a client in Damansara — paid for the second-hand sewing machine that still sits in our cutting room today.
The brief has not changed since. Build furniture that holds together, in materials that age beautifully, for people who want to live with their pieces for a long time.
What has changed is the scale. We now ship to all major Malaysian cities, count three boutique hotels among our regular clients, and have completed more than 340 commissions to date.

What we stand for
Frames are made of kiln-dried hardwood and assembled with mortise-and-tenon joinery, glued and pinned. We do not use staples in structural members. We do not use particleboard. We do not hide cost-cuts behind upholstery.
Our default fabrics are Belgian linens, Italian velvets and full-grain leathers from tanneries we trust. If a client requests something we wouldn't put in our own homes, we will say so.
A two-year structural warranty comes standard, but our relationship with a client rarely ends there. Re-upholstery and refinishing are done in-house by the team that built the piece originally.

Visit us
We deliberately chose to keep our showroom inside the workshop building rather than in a high-rent retail location. It means clients can walk from a polished sofa display straight onto the workshop floor where similar pieces are being built that day.
The walk-through is the most honest sales pitch we know. You see the timber stacks, the foam cutting bench, the upholsterers at work — and you understand exactly what your money is paying for.
We're privileged to have worked with private homeowners, interior designers and the hospitality trade across Malaysia and Singapore. A small selection of completed projects:
